SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of a Senior Design Engineer-Core Team Leader, performs the detailed component and system design activities related to embedded computing solutions in one or more concurrent design and development activities; has direct interaction with many functional groups related to product design and manufacturing; indirectly supports products after production release; and performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary to meet the needs of the organization from time to time, as needed.

1. Design

a. Understand the interaction of designed subsystems in their relationship to the final product
b. Responsible for implementation of design requirements
c. Keep track of design changes and communication of the changes internally
d. Strong understanding of digital electronic theory
e. Familiar with commercial of-the-shelf (COTS) PC products for use in designs
f. Perform schematic, circuit board level design
g. Responsible for the research and development of solutions to assigned problems
h. Redesign due to end-of-life component, cost reduction, etc.
i. Strong background in Intel computer architectures required
j. Familiar with typical electronic test equipment such as an oscilloscope, multimeter and thermal probe
k. Understand and practice revision control
l. Willingness to take ownership of designs and drive them to success

2. Lab Work

a. Contributes to prototyping and small runs of engineering samples
b. Debugging of circuits and systems
c. Research and development activities
d. Development execution of test scenarios
e. Minimal software test routines

Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent and three to five years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

7. Provide assistance to other engineering projects and departments as assigned.
8. Must be extremely flexible to changing requirements.
9. Must be supportive of continuous improvement within the department and individual processes.
10. Willing to travel domestically and internationally if necessary.

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; position is factory based, in Mequon, WI.
